What HEALTHY means to me

I often use my slogan "Be Fit, Be Fierce, Be FABULOUS! Healthy is the New Sexy..." but it's not to be taken lightly. It's not just a slogan to me. It has real meaning behind it. Being healthy is more than just eating clean, being on a diet, or working out. It's more than just looking good, or having a nice body. Many of us take the term "healthy living" for granted. Most people don't usually take into account that in order to even be able to have a mindset to workout, we first must be healthy mentally. I had to to have a sound mind in order to make the decision to adopt a healthy lifestyle in the first place. I had to be willing to change the way I viewed myself. I had to recognize that I was an example to my children and grandchildren. It was up to me to chose what type of example I actually wanted to be. It takes stepping out of the box that many of us put ourselves in and moving away from the doubt and the worry of failure. How could I know if I'd be successful had I not taken the first steps to be healthy? Quite honestly I was hurting and suffering from years of beating myself up and thinking I didn't deserve anything good in life. I had the "Whoa is me" mentality. I felt sorry for myself after being abused, and in abusive relationships since childhood. There were years of negative self talk and giving so much of myself to everyone else around me thinking I would win the approval of others and leaving absolutely nothing for ME. I cared so much about what others thought and found myself living for other people and neglecting my own needs. There were also years of me not knowing how to say the word "no" and allowing others to pull me in 100 directions. I finally had to put my foot down and CHANGE. It was not anyone else's fault. It was mine. I had forgotten to love me. I took a look around at the people in my circle and started to eliminate them one by one. Before I knew it, I was standing completely alone. I isolated myself from negative people. I even had to drop a few family members without looking back. This was solely about ME. That's when I made the decision that I would start the healing process of every wounded area of MY LIFE. I took a long hard look at myself and had no idea where to start first. I did a lot of praying and looked deep within. God was there and has always been there with me. I had to find an inner strength. I then created my alter ego I AM GODDESS... (goddess of what you ask? Goddess of whatever I want to be) that's when started to heal spiritually and shed all the baggage that I had been carrying around with me. I had to become my own super hero. No one was coming to save me. I had to save myself. My way of convincing myself to move forward and not be afraid was to tell MYSELF to be fit, be fierce, and to be FABULOUS! To STAND IN MY TRUTH.

When I use my slogan with other beauties. I'm simply hoping to bless them with the same EMPOWERMENT! I want everyone, (especially EVERY WOMAN) to know the feeling, or at least strive for the feeling of being HEALTHY. Being healthy means loving myself so much that I am able to recognize and detect when there is anything toxic in my atmosphere that doesn't suit me, or make me happy. If it isn't conducive to the lifestyle that I have chosen for myself, I don't and can't make time for it. Being healthy to me is when you aren't willing to compromise how you feel about yourself for anything that isn't in your best interest. It sounds a bit selfish, right? Well, so be it. It means nurturing my inner and outer surroundings. When you love yourself in a healthy way, It means choosing the emotional state that you want to take on each day. You are in control and we all have a choice. Being healthy is a personal thing that every human being should know. It has nothing to do with the size of your body, it has nothing to do with how fast you can run, or how much weight you can lift. It's mind, body, and soul. Don't get me wrong, what you put into your body will and does effect your cognitive behavior and how clearly you think. When you choose quality foods for fuel, your body will also start to change. You skin and hair becomes healthier. You feel lighter and you gain a greater confidence about who you are when you look and feel good. That's the feeling I wish everyone had the opportunity to experience. I want to EMPOWER all the women that I know to feel those same feelings. No one is perfect. I am surely not perfect and still learning, building, and growing everyday. We can only do the best that we can. But while I am here, I feel that it is my duty to teach and tell what I do know and what I have learned. I know that there are other women out there who are suffering in some of the same ways that I've suffered in the past who just need a bit of encouragement and understanding. I want them to know that they are not alone. I have been there and still striving to be HEALTHY. Healthy has no expiration date for . As long as I am here on earth, I will strive for good health not just physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. When I say"Be Fit, Be Fierce, Be FABULOUS...Healthy is the NEW Sexy..." that comes from a deep seeded place in my heart. It's not just something that sounds good to me. I hope to help someone who needs it. What does being healthy mean to you?
